Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a customer service oriented team member to create outstanding experiences and maintain a clean, safe shopping environment. You will assist the department manager in meeting sales and quality standards while embracing the Customer 1st strategy and upholding our core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

This role requires good communication and the ability to respond to customer questions.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Effective communication skills.
• Any retail experience.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products in the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products in the department and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers to ensure they get what they want and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain proper temperatures and logs.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and report items needing repair.
• Notify management of accidents.
• Report safety risks and any illegal activity including theft or fraud.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.
