Job summary

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Security Assistant for the 11 pm–7 am shift. You will monitor CCTV, support the control room, and assist visitors and staff after hours.

You will respond to incidents, coordinate with the Shift Manager, and lead basic emergency procedures, including evacuation and crowd control. CPR/First Aid certification and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Must have proven experience in customer service and security with knowledge of emergency protocols.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to be certified within 6 months.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent communication and positive demeanor under stress.
  • Computer data entry skills and the ability to handle and reconcile cash.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and work outside in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor CCTV and security systems within the Control Room and museum after hours.
  • Route emergency calls and coordinate with the Shift Manager per protocols.
  • Maintain visitor and campus security through observation and incident reporting.
  • Provide leadership in emergency protocols for evacuations and drills.
  • Maintain attendance and follow Standards and Expectations manual.
  • Stay informed on daily operations and emergency procedures.
  • Represent the department during events (garage greeter, crossing, etc.).
