Job summary

Brookline Public Schools School Building Services is seeking a Senior Night Custodian for Brookline High School to supervise custodial staff and ensure building cleanliness and safety.

The 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM shift Monday through Friday requires strong leadership, project management, and the ability to coordinate cleaning and routine maintenance with minimal supervision. Applicants should have prior custodial supervisory experience and a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Completion of four years of high school or equivalent, including knowledge of cleaning techniques, building operations and supervisory skills.
• Prior custodial experience including supervision of staff.
• Basic knowledge of custodial operations and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and instruct custodial staff directly, or as directed by the Manager and Assistant Manager of Building Services.
• Assign duties and work schedules to subordinates.
• Exercise leadership skills and good judgment in supervision of subordinates and interaction with school occupants, including staff, visitors, students and/or the general public.
• Directly responsible for cleaning assigned areas, building cleanliness, sanitizing, and sanitation, including entryways and exterior in close proximity to the building.
• Perform routine building maintenance activities such as boilers and burners checks, oiling fuel pumps, oil tank readings, cleaning oil strainers, replacing light bulbs, and snow/ice removal.
• Coordinate custodial and routine maintenance services; review issues and request trades staff via Town work order system.
• Maintain building security and safety including closing the building each night, setting alarm, and responding to call back situations from alarm company on a 24-hour basis.
• Maintain records of subordinates’ attendance and performance; evaluate performance and provide counsel to staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
