Job summary

Holbrook Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Custodian for the second shift (2:00pm-10:00pm) to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment.

The role requires routine building maintenance, floor care, snow removal, and coordination with facilities staff. Candidates should have custodial experience and be able to pass state background checks. Starting immediately, full-time employment with duties across school facilities.

Qualifications

• MGL Chapter 459 background checks required for all new hires.
• At least 2 years of relevant custodial experience preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure routine cleanliness, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting for the building during the specified shift.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks including sweeping, vacuuming, washing, scrubbing, floor care, dusting, windows, restrooms, and trash removal.
• Keep building and premises neat and clean, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas.
• Maintain assigned equipment and a safe working area.
• Report major repairs to the Director of Facilities or Building Principal.
• Open and close the building daily; ensure doors/windows are secured and lights off; raise/lower US flag daily.
• Communicate with custodial staff, school staff, and the public.
• Maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and fuel; report needs to Director of Facilities.
• Conduct ongoing general maintenance, upkeep and minor repairs.
• Perform outside grounds chores (mowing, trimming, weed whacking) as needed.
• Arrange furniture for meetings, activities, and events.
• Maintain security and safety of the building, emergency readiness, and off-hours as needed.
• Shovel, plow, and sand walks, driveways, and steps; clear snow from exits.
• Fill in for other shifts and other duties as assigned.
