New Bedford Public School District is seeking a Jr. Custodian with New Bedford residency preferred for a 3PM–11PM shift. The role involves supporting school operations, maintaining clean and safe facilities, and assisting with events and maintenance tasks across district buildings.

The position requires citizenship/residency or valid work visa, and a high school/trade school degree is preferred. Applicants must be able to work evenings and be part of a professional custodial team.

Qualifications

• High School or Trade School degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Attends to problems or complaints under the Principal/Senior Custodian.
• Assists in preparing school functions and moving furniture/equipment under direction.
• Maintains a clean, sanitary, safe environment in kitchen/cafeteria areas.
• Assists with unloading of supplies/equipment.
• Assists with upkeep of heating/ventilation systems and preventative maintenance.
• Assists in securing the building and notes areas needing attention.
• Notifies Principal/Senior Custodian of facilities or equipment needing repair.
• Performs routine and non-routine work as directed.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of all building/grounds with pride.
• Maintains efficiency within the Custodial Department; adheres to professional standards.
• Performs other duties as directed per Muni-Class Code.
