Job summary

The Will Group is seeking a Roadway Resident Engineer – Night Shift to lead on-site roadway and transportation construction activities across Illinois. You will oversee contractors, inspect work to IDOT standards, and ensure safe, compliant project delivery on night shifts.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering degree with IDOT experience and at least 3 years of roadway construction experience. This full-time, on-site role offers competitive pay and benefits in Illinois.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or equivalent with IDOT experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of roadway construction inspection, construction engineering, or construction management experience.
• Experience on IDOT, municipal, county, or transportation projects.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for roadway and transportation projects.
• Administer project records and documentation per IDOT requirements.
• Monitor contractor activities for compliance with plans, safety, and quality.
• Coordinate daily construction activities with stakeholders.
• Review pay estimates, change orders, and quantity documentation.
• Facilitate project meetings and report status.
