Job summary

Penn Medicine's Lancaster General Hospital seeks a Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague for the 5 Fred surgical unit. This RN collaborates with the interprofessional team to provide safe, patient-centered care for a diverse surgical population in a 20-bed unit.

The role is open to new graduates and experienced nurses, with part-time nights and weekend rotation. The successful candidate will apply the nursing process, educate patients and families, and uphold Penn Medicine values of privacy, quality,

Qualifications

• RN licensure in PA required.
• BSN or higher nursing degree required.
• Completion of the Nurse Residency Program or more than 15 months of practice.
• CPR Certification - American Heart Association Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
• Health care provider in good standing with Medicare/Medicaid; not excluded from participation.
• As outlined in unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.

Responsibilities

• Incorporates the Lancaster General Health mission, vision and values into planning patient care.
• Functions as an independent and interdependent member of the health care team as defined in unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.
• Performs patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions and adapts the plan of care accordingly.
• Collects and manages comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation.
• Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis and implements age-appropriate care plans.
• Coordinates patient care across several disciplines and assigns, delegates, and supervises other staff.
• Educates patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
