Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Clinical Nurse II for the fast-paced Observation Unit at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA. This part-time night-shift position (7pm–7am) includes every third weekend and rotating holidays, working with both medical and surgical patients with a typical 24–48 hour stay.

The Clinical Nurse II is a full partner on the health care team, delivering safe nursing care and applying the nursing process while coordinating care across disciplines.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in PA is required.
• BSN or higher degree is required.
• Nurse Residency Program completion or >15 months of practice is required.
• CPR Certification - AHA Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility and accountability as defined by the ANA standards of nursing practice.
• Performs patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychological, and cognitive functions.
• Evaluates progress and adapts the care plan based on trends.
• Coordinates patient care across multiple disciplines and caregivers.
• Educates patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
• Demonstrates leadership and supports teamwork within the unit.
