Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Omaha seeks a compassionate RN to join the Pulmonary/Oncology Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The role focuses on surgical patients, head and neck cancer patients, pulmonary care, and telemetry, with a 31-bed unit and collaborative team dynamics.

Applicants should be prepared for 7pm–7am shifts, 24 or 36 hours per week, with opportunities for professional growth and ongoing certification support.

Qualifications

• BSN or MSN from an accredited nursing program; RN license required.
• Annual mandatory education requirements and certification training.
• Telemetry Cardiac Rhythm Course or NIH Stroke Scale training within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care appropriate to age, ensuring understanding and comfort with treatment per criteria.
• Perform initial and ongoing assessment to determine nursing care needs and plan discharge.
• Develop, review, and revise individualized care plans with providers and disciplines.
• Implement interventions safely and in accordance with established protocols.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and communicate shift reports (SBAR) to the team.
• Maintain professionalism, participate in meetings or committees as needed.
• Initiate actions to correct risks and ensure safe care practices.
