Job summary

MercyOne’s OB Emergency Department – Antepartum Unit in Des Moines is a full-time, night-shift nursing role. The unit serves low and high-risk antepartum patients, with 24/7 ultrasound and observation capabilities, located on East Tower, 3rd Floor.

The nurse provides individualized care across ages, coordinating admission, transfer, and discharge while following Nurse Practice Act, hospital policies, and professional standards. Nights, weekends, and holidays rotate as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Current Iowa RN license required.
• BLS certification within 6 weeks of hire.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and implement nursing care for patients of all ages.
• Delegate and coordinate care with the team during admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Provide safe patient handling and use equipment properly (IV pumps, monitoring devices).
• Respond to emergencies and support families during care.
