Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Registered Nurse for Medical-Surgical-Oncology on a part-time night shift. The Staff Nurse inpatient role emphasizes delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in alignment with ethical standards and departmental policies.

You will perform comprehensive assessments, educate patients and families, coordinate with the healthcare team, and participate in discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing acceptable if committed to obtaining BSN within 3 years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Complete assessments for each patient, including age-specific considerations.
• Identify educational needs and readiness to learn for patients and families.
• Anticipate potential problems related to disease, discharge needs, and family support.
• Develop and update the nursing care plan with input from the interdisciplinary team.
• Coordinate communication with physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust care accordingly.
• Prioritize care needs as patient status changes.
• Contribute to discharge planning and patient/family education.
