Job summary

Howard University Hospital is hiring a Clinical Nurse II in General Medicine for the evening shift (Mon-Fri 7:30 PM – 8:00 AM EOW, EOH). The role emphasizes patient-centered care, collaboration with the healthcare team, and adherence to hospital standards and the Nurse Practice Act of DC.

You will contribute to quality improvement, provide compassionate support, and mentor staff while maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity in a teaching hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree required or higher.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the District of Columbia.
• Maintains active BLS and ACLS certifications if applicable.
• 2+ years of clinical nursing experience upon hire or after program completion.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with patient/family and health care team to determine health goals and interventions.
• Provides nursing care per unit standards and may serve as charge nurse after orientation.
• Participates in unit performance improvement programs and quality indicators.
• Educates patients and families on condition, medications, and self-care.
