Job summary

Howard University Hospital seeks a Clinical Nurse II for General Medicine (Med Surg). The role involves collaborating with patients, families, and the care team to plan and adjust care, ensure nursing standards, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include leadership after orientation, maintaining infection control, and ensuring patient safety while delivering compassionate, evidence-based nursing care on a 7:30 PM–8:00 AM schedule. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree required to practice as RN.
• BSN preferred; graduate of accredited nursing program.
• Current DC RN license to practice.
• Maintains BLS; ACLS is recommended.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with patient, family and health care team to set health goals and revise plans of care.
• Provides nursing care per standards and serves as charge nurse after 6 months orientation.
• Participates in unit performance improvement programs and monitors care outcomes.
• Maintains infection control practices and protects patient confidentiality.
