Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles seeks a Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) Clinical Registered Nurse to deliver skilled patient care across labor, delivery and postpartum for mothers and newborns. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient education, and collaboration with the care team.

The nurse will document care, participate in plan-of-care development, support safety and comfort, and uphold MLKCH’s mission and core values in a fast-paced perinatal unit.

Qualifications

• BSN required; if hired without BSN, must complete degree within 5 years.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience in Labor and Delivery and Postpartum.
• Nursery/NICU experience preferred.
• Current California Nursing license.
• Certification in related nursing specialty preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for laboring patients, cesarean births and vaginal births, including immediate newborn and mother assessments.
• Follow perinatal evidence-based practices and MLKCH policies.
• Collaborate with CUS, Nurse Manager and Senior Director; communicate via SBAR in emergencies and routine hand-offs.
• Document patient care: assessment, IPOC, implementation, evaluation, education, discharge.
• Develop and adjust care plans with the patient to ensure safety, comfort and disease prevention.
