Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital in Akron, OH seeks an RN in the Labor & Delivery Unit to provide exceptional care throughout the patient care journey, interacting directly with patients and their families while offering healthcare education as needed.

This full-time night-shift position focuses on direct nursing care, ongoing assessments, care planning with families, documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN, or BSN) required.
• One year of RN Labor and Delivery/Perinatal experience preferred.
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required upon or within one year of hire.
• NRP certification required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a given patient population.
• Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition, and respond appropriately.
• Develop and update goals, involving patients and families in care plans.
• Provide nursing care, administer treatments and medication, and document.
• Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes.
• Delegate tasks/assignments and serve as a resource person/role model/mentor.
• Complete admission assessments of maternal and/or infant patients.
• Communicate changes in patient condition and ensure JCAHO Core Measures are achieved.
• Incorporate patient safety goals and complete all paper and electronic records.
