Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Labor and Delivery at Olathe Hospital. This night-shift, full-time position leads patient care in a high-acuity environment, performs comprehensive assessments, and collaborates with physicians and the care team.

Responsibilities include coordination of services, adherence to safety and medication policies, patient/family education, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• HS graduate required.
• ADN required with RN licensure.
• ADN-to-BSN agreement must be signed by hire date and BSN completed by 5th anniversary.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital policies related to medication safety and order writing.
• Answer calls, evaluate needs, and triage patient care.
• Monitor safety and intervene when concerns arise.
• Maintain consistent work schedule.
• Model therapeutic communication with patients and families.
• Coordinate health care services with hospital and providers.
• Delegate tasks and foster a collaborative team environment.
• Apply nursing process and critical thinking in patient care.
• Develop and adjust care plans as patient needs change.
• Perform comprehensive assessments and provide direct nursing care.
• Educate patients and families using available resources.
• Pursue ongoing learning and unit-specific certifications.
