Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes.
• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft windows-based programs.
• Must be fluent in English (read, verbal and written skills).
• Equipment use to stabilize and monitor patients (EMR and Pyxis) as part of daily care.
• Proficient clinical skills, critical thinking, and strong communication abilities.
• EKG interpretation and related training as required.
• Ability to float to appropriate departments within scope and credentials.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities within a unit.
• Effective verbal and written communication to direct nursing services.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document accurate initial and ongoing assessments to evaluate patient conditions and needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Administer medications accurately and monitor patient responses.
• Supervise nursing personnel in delivering safe, therapeutic care according to policies.
• Provide patient and family education about the care plan and medications.
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures and prepare patients for tests, procedures, and surgeries.
• Monitor patient lab work and report abnormal results.
• Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment per infection control protocols.
• Document all pertinent patient care information in the medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement and research activities.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with the healthcare team to stabilize patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
