Job summary

Boys Town National Research Hospital is seeking an adaptable Registered Nurse to serve as Bed Planner, coordinating bed utilization and staffing across Med-Surg, PICU, and Surgery Support. Cross-training in pre-admissions and registration supports care transitions.

The role emphasizes efficient patient movement, proactive problem-solving, and collaboration to improve outcomes in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with a current state license.
• BSN degree required.
• Minimum of 5 years of hospital experience.
• CPR, ACLS and PALS certification within 6 months.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and computer use.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and education per unit needs.
• Assess room availability and assign beds to optimize flow.
• Prepare daily staff schedules and delegate nursing tasks.
• Coordinate with environmental services to prioritize bed cleaning.
• Collaborate with PICU, Med-Surg units to meet patient needs.
• Maintain Joint Commission readiness and bed management data.
