Job summary

Allegheny General Hospital's 6A Stepdown Unit is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide high-acuity care on a 30-bed unit. The role involves night shifts (7pm–7am), two-week rotation and weekend/holiday coverage per policy, with union representation.

The unit stabilizes patients from MICU and ED, requiring close monitoring and critical care skills. Responsibilities include applying nursing process, patient assessment, care planning, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team from admission

Qualifications

• Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• CPR certification
• Minimum one year RN experience
• 1st preference to employee on current night schedule on unit
• 2nd preference to employee on current unit

Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for a designated patient population for the nursing process.
• Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills.
• Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
• Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
• Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture and willingness to learn.
