Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health in New Brunswick, NJ, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for the Main Hospital. The role supports care, evaluation and testing for patients with breathing-related complications under physician guidance.

Required: New Jersey respiratory license, BLS, and RRT certification. Preferred: 2-3 years of experience; ACLS, PALS and NRP highly recommended. Night shift, hourly compensation, comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• RRT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Administer aerosol medications, chest PT and related therapies per physician orders.
• Perform rounds on assigned patients to deliver appropriate care.
• Assess and interpret patient status using labs, radiology, vital signs to guide care.
• Evaluate therapy orders for completeness and effectiveness, propose changes.
• Document patient assessment, plan of care and related records per department policy.
• Demonstrate knowledge in Oxygen Therapy, BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC across neonate to adult patients.
• Demonstrate competence in invasive and non-invasive ventilation across patient ages.
• Comply with department, infection prevention and safety policies; align with Joint Commission standards.
• Prioritize and organize work; interact professionally in a diverse workforce.
• Provide emergency airway care and ventilation; perform arterial sample collection if certified.
• Complete mandatory competencies and Healthstream training on schedule.
• Attend internal and external educational programs for continuing education.
