Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist at St. John Hospital in Detroit to provide life-support, resuscitation and gas therapies in ICU and other units.

The role includes supervising students, documentation and cross-unit coverage during a 36-hour weekly night shift schedule. Requirements include graduation from an accredited program, Michigan license with NBRC registration, and up-to-date credentials.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
• Bachelor's in Respiratory Therapy preferred; Associate of Science Degree minimum.
• Recent graduate or two years of recent Respiratory Therapist experience in a tertiary hospital.
• Current License - Respiratory Therapist in the State of Michigan; NBRC registration.
• 90-day grace period after graduation to complete NBRC registration and obtain Michigan license.

Responsibilities

• Delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring and various medical gases therapy to critical care patients in the Intensive Care Units under supervision.
• Performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures for ICU and General Practice Unit patients.
• Maintains clinical expertise for department assignments across HFHS locations.
• Communicates effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians and system employees regarding patient care needs.
• Adequately documents all aspects of patient care.
• Supervises, directs and delegates to respiratory externs and students as assigned.
• Completes necessary and accurate patient billing information.

Education

Bachelor's in Respiratory Therapy

Associate of Science Degree (minimum)

Recent graduate or 2 years of experience in tertiary hospital
