Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for PRN night shifts in the Baptist service area. The role delivers respiratory care, oxygen therapy, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to neonatal through geriatric patients in-patients and out-patients.

You will operate RT-CRT setups, monitor and wean oxygen therapy, draw arterial blood gases, and provide airway management under physician orders and policy.

Qualifications

• Required - Associate's Degree
• Preferred- Bachelor's Degree
• Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice
• Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of information
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and role-specific software
• Strong interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information regarding each patient.
• Educates patients and co-workers on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures.
• Provides care based on patient age and needs.
• Adapts communication and approach to the age and population served.
