Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Residential Care Counselor to safeguard and support assigned children within a multidisciplinary treatment team. You will help formulate and implement residential treatment plans and document progress under supervision.

Responsibilities include establishing early therapeutic alliances, completing milieu assessments within 24 hours, maintaining daily care plans, and collaborating with staff to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications

• Direct experience providing care to children or youth with emotional challenges.
• Bachelor’s degree in a human services field or equivalent education/experience.
• Current CPR certification and appropriate crisis management certifications.
• ER S, Safety & OSHA certifications may be required.
• Bradley Hospital Crisis Management certification or enrollment in course.

Responsibilities

• Support initial therapeutic alliance with child and family on admission.
• Complete initial milieu assessment within 24 hours of admission.
• Develop initial problem list and residential care plan within 24 hours; update daily.
• Document observations timely in child’s chart; communicate plans to staff.
