Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts seeks a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care using the nursing process from admission to discharge. Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, documentation and collaboration with physicians and the care team.

Candidates must hold Massachusetts nursing licensure, BLS and unit-specific certifications as required. A BSN is highly preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS is required for every RN; ACLS certification and unit-specific certifications may be required.
• BSN is highly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
• Competencies will be developed and attached to the department job description.

Responsibilities

• Uses the Nursing Process for planning, delivery and management of patient care from admission to discharge.
• Performs patient assessment and reassessment per procedure.
• Develops and coordinates individualized plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care in the assigned setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others per job description and competency.
• Documents patient care per procedure.
• Develops and documents Education Plan for patient/family.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other providers.
• Administers medications and treatments; assists physician with procedures.
• Participates in Nursing Governance activities.
• Supports professional growth and staff development.
• Engages in performance improvement initiatives.
• Complies with departmental policies and objectives.
• Attends meetings and conferences as required.
• Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
• Adheres to health and safety regulations.
• Maintains respectful, professional environment for all.
