Job summary

CertainTeed, a Saint-Gobain subsidiary, is seeking an Extruder Operator I to support PVC extrusion lines in a safe, fast-paced Michigan facility.

The role includes on‑the‑job training, a 12‑hour night shift schedule (6:00 PM–6:00 AM, 2‑2‑3 rotating, with some weekend shifts), and starting pay of $21.00/hour plus a $1.00/hour shift premium. You will help with line start-up, quality checks, data entry in MES, and safety and housekeeping practices.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years manufacturing experience in machine operation
• Experience with quality assurance including inspecting and measuring
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts on a rotating schedule including weekends

Responsibilities

• Support safe operation of PVC extrusion lines and ensure product quality
• Assist with line start-up/shutdown and color changes under supervision
• Verify correct materials and perform basic quality checks
• Monitor line operations and report abnormalities
• Enter production data into MES (Factory+) system
• Perform basic lockout/tagout procedures on equipment
• Submit work orders and maintenance requests as needed
• Make basic equipment adjustments to maintain quality and line performance
• Complete shift reporting for scrap and performance metrics
• Troubleshoot basic production equipment
• Communicate with team members and leadership
• Pack panels and accessories to quality standards
• Provide relief for packers during breaks
• Support team on line issues and general production needs
• Uphold safety, 5S, KOI, and housekeeping standards
• Follow safety policies and maintain a clean work environment
• Perform other duties as assigned
