Job summary

American Sugar Refining, Inc. is seeking a 3rd Shift Production Supervisor to lead daily packaging and production activities, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. The role requires shift leadership, coaching of hourly team members, and strict adherence to GMP and food safety standards.

The successful candidate will verify critical controls, manage documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives while coordinating with maintenance and quality teams to meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Management, Food Science, Organizational Leadership, or related field.
• Associate degree required, or equivalent HR-accepted experience.
• 3+ years leadership experience, ability to lead and develop hourly teams.
• GMP and food safety/quality systems knowledge preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, and Kronos preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift operations by planning, scheduling, delegating, and verifying work to meet production, quality, safety, and delivery requirements.
• Coach, develop, and assess hourly employees with documented competency levels.
• Perform/start-up/shutdown, changeovers, and line adjustments per procedures.
• Ensure product testing is completed and documented; respond to deficiencies.
• Verify quality and food safety checks including weight, metal detection, and inspections.
• Monitor process indicators and coordinate troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Maintain records for accuracy and traceability (production reports, lab records, etc.).
• Manage non-conforming materials, holds, and escalation communications.
• Verify specifications, ingredients, packaging, lot code, and labeling compliance.
• Support railcar and raw material activities after training (Trackmobile, rail movement).
• Support continuous improvement, safety, and quality programs.
