Job summary

Valmont in Brenham, Texas is seeking a Night Shift Fitter to assemble pole components by tack welding small parts to shafts using FCAW, following drawings and procedures.

You will read drawings, position parts with a turner and jib crane, cut with plasma, measure with tapes and squares, and work in confined spaces along the line.

Starting pay is $26.07/hour plus $1 night differential, with step increases at 90 days, 1 year and 2 years; benefits include healthcare, 401k, PTO and more.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 1 year experience reading and using blue prints.
• 1 year previous experience in manufacturing or fabrication or completed welding training.
• Must pass FCAW weld test and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Tack weld small components to round or square shafts to form a pole assembly using FCAW.
• Position shafts using a stationary turner and jib crane; lift components up to 50 pounds.
• Read drawings to identify parts and locate components for assembly.
• Read drawings to ensure correct positioning of attachments on parts.
• Use plasma torch to cut steel and drill holes per jig drawings; wear PPE.
• Use measuring tools to verify distances, angles, and conversions.
• Work in confined areas along the pole assembly line as needed.
• Operates grinders, buffers, and drills to assist assembly.
• Maintain necessary certifications and report training needs.
