Job summary

Adventist Health Bakersfield is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our hospital-based laboratory team. The role collects blood specimens, handles and processes samples, and supports pre- and post-analytic workflows to ensure timely patient results.

The ideal candidate will have CA CPTI certification, or CPT/CPTII, and a High School diploma with phlebotomy experience in an acute care setting. This is a night shift position offering competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred
• Experience in Phlebotomy in acute care environment preferred
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPTI) license required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
• Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) or CPTII license required

Responsibilities

• Collects blood specimens for a variety of Laboratory tests using age-appropriate techniques; handles/transports lab specimens and provides post-phlebotomy care to patients.
• Receives specimens for testing; assesses specimens upon receipt according to established criteria to determine acceptability and takes action accordingly.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and documentation of pre-analytic and post-analytic work; supports workflow and escalates as needed.
• Performs routine data entry and routing of test results; communicates with callers and coordinates specimen recollections.
