Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
• Minimum six months experience in phlebotomy.
• For assignments requiring travel off-site, possess a valid Michigan driver license and reliable transportation with insurance.
• Experience in a hospital or clinic laboratory preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient specimens for laboratory testing with emphasis on preanalytic and post-analytic steps.
• Enters patient demographic and test order information into lab information systems per protocol; maintains confidentiality.
• Performs blood collection/phlebotomy as a primary duty (≥25% of hours) with competency and compassion.
• Adheres to HFHS Standards of Excellence for exceptional customer service with patients, coworkers, and caregivers.
• Reviews lab request forms for complete information and protects specimen identity and integrity.
