Job summary

Henry Ford Jackson Hospital is seeking a patient‑focused Phlebotomist to join our day shift team. You will collect blood samples, prepare specimens, and enter data into the lab information system while delivering courteous service to patients and caregivers.

Requires a high school diploma and at least six months of phlebotomy experience; familiarity with medical terminology preferred. Off‑site travel may be required for some assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills is required.
• Minimum of six months experience in phlebotomy is required. New employees must successfully complete competency evaluation and demonstrate safety and proficiency with all patient ages likely to present for service.
• For assignments requiring off-site travel, candidates must possess and maintain a valid Michigan motor vehicle license and reliable transportation with insurance.
• Experience in a hospital or clinic laboratory is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient specimens for testing, focusing on pre- and post-analytic steps.
• Enters patient demographics and orders into LIS promptly; maintains confidentiality.
• Performs blood collection for 25%+ of hours with competency and compassion.
• Upholds HFHS Standards of Excellence in customer service.
• Reviews lab request forms for complete information and resolves discrepancies.
