Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to execute blood collection and specimen processing with accuracy and clinical judgment within hospital standards. You will document activities, support infection control, and interact with patients and staff with professionalism.

The role requires a strong focus on accuracy, patient confidentiality, and adherence to safety policies while working in a fast-paced laboratory environment across adult to neonatal patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of certified phlebotomy program preferred.
• Completion of a phlebotomy externship or one year of phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy procedures accurately and within established turn-around times.
• Transports specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
• Answers phone calls and provides information in a courteous and professional manner.
• Monitors specimen integrity.
• Processes specimens properly and in a timely manner.
• Assures documentation for medical necessity.
• Follow standards of safety dictated by the laboratory, the hospital and regulatory agencies.
• Contributes to the efficient operation of the laboratory.
• Participates in continuing education programs for the upgrade of educational experience.
• Performs AIDET
• Performs other duties as assigned by laboratory leadership.
