Job summary

Frio Regional Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to identify the best method for retrieving specimens, prepare specimens for laboratory testing, and perform screening procedures. The role is on-site and requires accuracy in following lab procedures.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, specimen collection, calibrations, quality control, and timely reporting of results for verification prior to charting.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Formal phlebotomy training in a Phlebotomy Program with certification.
• CPR required.
• Experience is highly preferred, in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Follow established safety guidelines for working in the Laboratory.
• Record daily temperatures for equipment and laboratory area; troubleshoot deviations and document corrective actions.
• Assist in maintenance of reagent and supply inventory.
• Receive supplies into the laboratory, unpack and store items; label reagents per guidelines; notify Lab Supervisor of issues.
• Adhere to Laboratory procedures; assist in collection of patient samples as requested by Laboratory Supervisor.
• Process all samples according to written Laboratory procedures.
• Perform all waived laboratory tests with accuracy and adhere to Good Laboratory Practice standards.
• Submit reports for all test results to Laboratory Testing Personnel for review and verification prior to charting.
