Job summary

Jefferson Health is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collection for tests at our Philadelphia facility, primarily on the night shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM). The role requires proper patient identification, adherence to biohazard precautions, and accurate documentation of collected specimens.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, fingerstick or heelstick as needed, communicating test requirements, and maintaining a clean, stocked work area in accordance with safety policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff aligned with Jefferson values.
• Performs phlebotomy via venipuncture, fingerstick or heelstick for requested tests.
• Maintains accurate patient identification during specimen collection.
• Notifies nursing or physician offices about identified discrepancies or fasting requirements.
• Reviews requisitions for missing information and follows up as needed.
• Checks collection areas and may transport specimens to the lab.
• Completes Collection List with accurate collection time and phlebotomist code.
• Cleans, stocks work area and follows safety and dress code policies.
• Fulfills other lab duties as assigned.
