Job summary

Jefferson Health Northeast in Philadelphia seeks a Phlebotomist to obtain blood specimens via venipuncture, fingerstick, or heelstick, following procedures.

The role requires adherence to patient identification, fasting requirements, and safety policies; 1-3 years experience preferred and phlebotomy certification.

Work Location: 4900 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA; full-time day shift; benefits provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Some locations may require 100 hours rotation in inpatient settings and 150 successful sticks.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with staff and patients in line with Jefferson values.
• Performs phlebotomy and ensures accurate collection for tests.
• Maintains accurate patient identification during collection.
• Communicates id, fasting, and language-barrier issues to nursing/physician staff.
• Reviews requisitions for missing information and follows up as needed.
• Checks collection, sorting, and storage areas to prevent misses; may transport samples.
• Monitors collection lists and unreceived specimen reports; records times and codes.
• Cleans, stocks work area and maintains supplies; follows safety and dress code policies.
• Performs other lab duties as assigned by supervisors.

Education
