Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Vascular Unit. This full-time Day shift operates 7:00am–7:00pm, with three 12-hour shifts weekly and rotating weekends/holidays.

The PCT supports patient care, vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under RN supervision. Eligible candidates include CNAs, NCMA, NCPCT, and related credentials, with BLS within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Candidates may have CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent credentials.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and assist with daily living activities.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, and ambulation.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, and EKG testing as directed.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and removal and specimen collection.
• Observe patient conditions and report changes to RN or medical staff.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
