Job summary

University Hospitals Portage Medical Center seeks a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) to join our team on variable shifts including Nights. You will support RNs with daily patient care, vital signs, ADLs, and documentation while ensuring safety and comfort for patients.

We value compassionate care, effective communication, and teamwork. A High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification within 90 days are required; hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
• BLS certification required within 90 days.
• Strong communication with diverse patients and families.
• Ability to organize changing assignments and multitask.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care tasks under RN supervision.
• Assist with ADLs, vital signs, I&O, and venipuncture where applicable.
• Ensure safe, comfortable patient environments.
• Assist with stocking and ordering of supplies.
• Support unit communication and onboarding of new staff.
