Job summary

University Hospitals is seeking a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA) to provide compassionate patient care across units including ICU, Med/Surg, and ED. The position follows RN direction with shifts such as Nights, Rotating Day/Night, Days, and Evening.

The PCNA performs ADLs, vital signs, I&O, and venipuncture where applicable, and aids with data collection, documentation, and unit operations. Onboarding and training of new teammates are also part of the role.

Qualifications

  A Brief Overview:

  The Patient Care Nursing Assistant (PCNA) completes patient care activities and provides clerical support as delegated by the RN. PCNAs perform duties including, but not limited to: ADLs, vital signs, I&O, 12-lead ECG, bladder scan, hygiene, and venipuncture (where applicable). Familiarity with using: Wheelchair, EKG equipment, patient assistive devices, and patient care equipment specific to assigned population. Assists with patient data collection and reporting. Maintains the patient record (in written and/or electronic format). Facilitates communication and efficient unit operations. Orients newly hired PCNAs.

• Assists with unit communication.
• Acts as a key resource for onboarding and training new team members.
