Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Central Massachusetts is seeking a Patient Transporter to support patient movement, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timely handoffs across units. You will escort ambulatory patients, transport between departments, and assist in equipment movement.

The role is night shift (11p-7a), non-exempt, with a pay range of $15.00–$22.22 per hour. A signing bonus may be available; final offer based on experience, skills and internal equity considerations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Escorts ambulatory patients and transports by wheelchair, stretcher or bed with safety checks and proper handoffs.
• Assists in moving and positioning patients using lift devices as needed.
• Delivers equipment and materials and sanitizes transport gear between uses.
• Transports patient specimens and maintains infection control guidelines.
• Checks E-cylinders and distributes/O2 tanks as required.
• Uses TDSS dispatch system and maintains transport logs.
• May participate in ED triage transport during disasters and assist with decontamination.
