Job summary

Jefferson Health Plans seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide direct and indirect patient care under licensed clinicians. This role supports telehealth encounters, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and ensures safety and efficiency in patient care at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Responsibilities include rounds, equipment maintenance, and responding to patient needs. Requires High School Diploma or GED and BLS certification upon hire; Epic and Vidyo

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs and their role in interprofessional team.
• Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role.
• Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients in need on a daily basis.
• Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.
• Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care.
• Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care.
• BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family and designated care partners.
• Performs validated and designated direct and indirect patient care activities to meet patient care needs under direction of licensed clinical team members.
• Actively promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment.
• Provides assistance in maintaining supplies and equipment available to ensure efficient unit operations.
• Conducts patient rounds as assigned, anticipates patient needs, and answers/responds to patient call lights promptly.
• May be assigned the role of a virtual safety associate as needed based on campus needs.
• May facilitate virtual exams using devices and software (e.g., Epic, Vidyo) to ensure a comprehensive telehealth encounter.
