Job summary

Jefferson Health seeks a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed clinicians. The role involves collaboration with interprofessional teams, role in telehealth, and ensuring safe, efficient care across units.

Responsibilities include patient rounds, monitoring, and assisting with virtual examinations when needed, with emphasis on compassionate, patient-centered service within our Lansdale Hospital facility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care needs.
• Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role.
• Knowledge of personal care and hygiene for quality of life and patient needs.
• Knowledge of risks in healthcare and how to mitigate them.
• Ability to communicate respectfully with patients, families and care partners.
• Understanding of effective communication concepts and tools.
• Uses the language of partnership with patients and families.
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification.
• AHA - American Heart Association certification.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with and supports the interprofessional team, patient, family and designated care partners.
• Performs direct and indirect patient care activities under supervision of licensed clinical team members.
• Promotes and maintains a safe patient care environment.
• Maintains supplies and equipment for efficient unit operations.
• Conducts patient rounds, anticipates needs, and responds to call lights promptly.
• May serve as a virtual safety associate as required by campus needs.
• May assist in clinical exams remotely using peripheral devices and telehealth software to ensure comprehensive virtual encounters.
