Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Patient Care Tech to support nursing staff on the unit. Under an RN's supervision, you will assist with vitals, glucose checks, I&O, and activities of daily living while maintaining a clean, safe patient environment.

Qualified candidates include CNAs, CMAs, and EMTs or nursing students with clinical exposure; BLS is required, and phlebotomy experience is a plus. This is a casual, night-shift role with potential for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic nursing care activities under RN supervision, including vitals, glucose, intake/output.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Report abnormal findings to nursing staff promptly.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms.
• Prioritize unit work and adapt to changing needs under supervision.
• Serve as liaison between patient care units and departments.
• Manage unit workflow with charge RN/as needed.
• Support census processes and daily admission/discharge lists as needed.
