Job summary

Edward Elmhurst Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Medical Surgical Unit at Arlington Heights, working nights from 7:00pm to 7:30am with every other weekend required. The role supports RN/LPN in patient care, mobility, and basic procedures in a 36-hour work week.

The candidate should have CNA training/certification, EMT/paramedic options, or nursing program involvement, plus CPR certification. Orientation week attendance is required.

Qualifications

• CNA course completion and CNA certification exam, EMT or paramedics training, or nursing program enrollment with a clinical rotation.
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Orientation for a week is required before start.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with personal care needs under RN/LPN supervision.
• Assists with exercising and ambulating patients using proper body mechanics.
• Obtains vitals, input/output, accu-checks and reports abnormalities to the nurse.
• Performs procedures as directed by RN/LPN (EKG, perineal care, Foley care, back rubs).
• Documents basic patient care in the electronic medical record and supports unit operations.
