Qualifications

• Minimum high school education or GED required.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English clearly.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with medical terminology.
• Must remain calm under stress or in emergencies.
• Competency after PCA I level with inpatient/outpatient care exposure.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding patient observations.
• Maintains constant observation of high‑risk patients as assigned.
• Assists in creating a safe environment and de-escalation as directed.
• Helps patients with daily living activities and mobility.
• Properly moves, lifts, positions, and transports patients using safe techniques.
• Performs patient safety checks and uses fall prevention strategies.
• Takes and records vital signs and physical measurements.
• Performs EKGs, POC tests, and bladder scanning per hospital standards.
• Assists with treatments by preparing equipment and supplies.
• Observes intake and maintains ostomy and drainage care as directed.
• Demonstrates respectful, culturally appropriate communication with staff and patients.
