Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Downtown Campus 3Center Family Medicine, 90% nights (1830-0700). You will support nursing staff in inpatient and outpatient care, perform vital signs, phlebotomy, catheter care, and assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and personal care.

Position emphasizes teamwork, patient comfort, sanitation, and accurate record keeping. Part-time schedule with night differential offered at the Downtown Iowa City campus.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and record vital signs (temp, pulse, resp, BP).
• Familiarity with nursing procedures used in patient care.
• Ability to follow instructions and work with nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform phlebotomy, IV removal, Foley removal; care for isolated patients.
• Perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures as directed.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, patient hygiene, comfort.
• Aid in position changes, transport, feeding, and intake recording.
• Support equipment preparation and cleaning, stocking units.
• Participate in nursing care conferences.
