Job summary

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the acute cardiac/stroke/stepdown unit during the night shift (7PM–7AM). The role involves patient care, vital signs, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection under the direction of an RN.

Required are a HS diploma or equivalent and one of several certifications listed, such as CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, or Navy Hospital Corps School training; BLS certification is also required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required, plus one of the listed certifications or programs.
• Active credentials in CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or Navy hospital corps/EMS-related training are preferred.
• Current student in a clinical program with RN/LPN/RT/PT exposure is acceptable.
• Recent PCT or Nursing Assistant work within last 3 years is helpful.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and document changes accurately.
• Assist with mobility, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection.
• Perform IV removal and Foley catheter insertion/removal as directed.
• Follow safety practices under RN supervision and report changes to medical staff.
