Job summary

Indiana University Health in Indianapolis is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide compassionate bedside care, including assisting with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes.

You will support the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs, reporting changes, and ensuring safe patient care using gait belts and alarms. This is a full-time night position within a leading health system offering opportunities for growth and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
• Requires up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Requires ability to maintain concentration under stress and manage a high workload.
• Requires basic math and reading skills for patient care tasks.
• Requires knowledge of infection control principles and aseptic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living and mobility assistance.
• Assist with meals, bathing, and linen changes to support patient comfort.
• Obtain vital signs and report abnormalities to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms and stay within reach during movement.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly and support the care team.
