Job summary
Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg 4 West unit. This part-time night position works roughly 7pm–7am, supporting a 24-bed inpatient unit that cares for acutely ill adults and post-operative patients.
The role involves assisting licensed staff, monitoring patient conditions, and ensuring safety under nurse supervision. Requires high school diploma and BLS within 90 days, plus CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certification and healthcare
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
- One of: Sentara Care Partner Certification, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical student, or PCT/Nursing Assistant experience.
- One year of prior health care experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care under the direct supervision of a professional nurse.
- Support admissions and discharge processes.
- Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any changes to the nurse.
