Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA, is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for a full-time night shift on the Medicine Unit. Hours are 7PM–7AM, three 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends.

The PCT works under a nurse to deliver delegated nursing care and support admissions and discharges, while monitoring patient conditions. The role requires a HS diploma or equivalent, with CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certification preferred, and BLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• HS – High School Grad or Equivalent.
• One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, or current clinical student with RN/LPN/RT/PT exposure.
• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• One year of health care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the supervision of a professional nurse.
• Support admissions and discharge processes.
• Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report changes to the nurse.
• Adhere to patient safety practices and unit protocols.
