Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Christiansburg is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the New River Valley Medical Center night shift (7pm–7am). You will perform basic nursing tasks, monitor vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and help maintain a safe patient care environment.

On this team you will participate in unit routines, use the EMR system for charting, and support coordination of patient flow.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous patient care experience preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred; CNA may be required in some facilities.
• AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire.
• Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
• Successful orientation and competency validation required.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care and assist with daily living activities.
• Take vital signs: blood pressure, oxygen levels, and temperature.
• Transport patients, supplies, and equipment within the facility.
• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes under supervision.
• Document observations and report to licensed staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of patient care areas.
• Support staff scheduling and unit operations as needed.
• May perform phlebotomy, wound care, and saline lock procedures if competent.
