Job summary

Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the 14 West Tower - Med-Surg Oncology Unit. The role supports RNs in delivering patient care and maintaining a safe, well-organized unit.

Responsibilities include data collection, procedures, and patient assistance with daily activities. The position is full-time (0.9 FTE) on the night shift, 12-hour shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Prior formal clinical training (CMA, CNA, PCT, EMT, corpsman, paramedic, nursing or medical student).
• Successful completion of institutional screening.
• Ability to solve simple problems.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists the RN in the delivery of patient care.
• Maintains a safe patient environment and follows unit priorities.
• Performs routine procedures, treatments and specimen collections.
• Documents care in real time in the patient care record.
• Assists with admission, discharge, transport, and coordination of patient activities.
• Operates unit equipment with aseptic technique and reports changes to the RN.
